My remaining family members in Scotland were all born there - my cousin was English but lived there from being a young child (died a few years ago).
Obviously, there are pros and cons......I guess it all boils down to the individual viewpoint and what one personally wants/hopes to get / out of the situation?
Knackered , going to bed shortly.......
Let me know how you get on with taking your computer back....... hope it gets sorted this time!

Good morning, Elle!
That's the laptop back in the computer shop!
Fingers crossed it gets fixed properly this time!
As an aside, the technician told me that Google Chrome is the best browser. I am on IE.
Fine morning up here!

Lovely day here, too, Rusty!
A mite chilly as yet, but the sun is shining and the sky is blue ! Does your heart good!
Just got in from walking the dog for a couple of hours........
I'm on IE too, but am not finding any problems with it . IE is actually working better for me on the Forum, than does Google Chrome, as I'm not getting a single advert!
Did they say how long your laptop will take to 'fix'?

I did not ask how long it would take, Elle.
Just hope they are successful!
I did see a notice in the shop saying if you want to go to the head of the queue for repairs, you can, at a cost of £15.
I dont think I approve of that, and shall be looking for a new repair shop in future!
Our local paper has a lot of Christmas ads in it today!

How very amoral! ...
(then the time taken for your laptop to be repaired will depend on how many lots of £15 they manage to make.......) Yes, I should look for another repairer!
Our local shop has been selling Christmas cards since the beginning of August. The true meaning of Christmas is getting (has got?) lost in commercialism.
Still struggling with yesterday's Times Cryptic.........may move on to today's Guardian.......

I hope your's is too?
Fine day here but a wee nip in the air this morning.
I am heading out for a dander round the nature trail.
I am getting my eye lasered tomorrow.
Hope it is more successful than my computer repair!

Yes, very good week!
We had good news this morning.....my husband went for his six-monthly cancer check and is still clear! he had half a lung removed just four years go ( a bummer as he has always been a non-smoker). I can't tell you the relief...it's always like the sword of Damocles hanging over our heads!
Is it a cataract you are having removed tomorrow?
You may already have left for your dander... ...then talk when you get back........

That is very good news, Elle, and a great relief to you, your husband, and family.
My Dad died of lung cancer and never smoked in his life!
My procedure tomorrow is called a "YAG laser posterior capsulotomy".
Basically, my left eye vision has clouded over, two years after cataract op. Quite common. The laser makes a wee hole in a membrane and perfecr vision returns. Just takes a few minutes.

I've just googled that and it sounds more complicated than you are making out? I read online about the treatment on a leaflet produced by Guy's hospital. It says one attends as an outpatient and remains there for at least half a day? the actual laser treatment may only take a very short time, but you have to have various checks and observations afterwards surely?
I'm sure all will go well - let me know how you are afterwards.
What's happening with your laptop? any news....?
