Yes, I agree what a mess the grid is. ~ When I first saw it panicked as I thought I was starting to get double vision! Thanks Chrise for your clue. However I am none the wiser. Is is some Greek monster? I had to look up the points on Bronte and it is certainly a new word for me.

Not Greek - certainly not a Greek word. Featured in Elizabethan art and literature, apparently.
"a second" refers to a short period of time.
