Well, it TRULY isn't in the 13th, guys!
Chris, thanks for the page references - I can't return the compliment as I don't know how you did it...but in my dictionary, under 'mutton' it goes from 'mutt'on-suet' straight to 'mutton dressed as lamb' - omitting 'mutt'on thumper'!!!!!!

Elle, has your 13th edition got a middle section like my 12th? It is called "The Word Lover's Miscellany" and is a wonderful collection of slang, obscure words, insults etc. Among the 38 insults is "mutton-thumper". Taghairm is shown under "25 words for intriguing things" which also includes the lovely "Tom Tiddler's ground"
