Thanks, lynbejack. I thought your literary clue wasn't enough, but I managed to get both of them. I had one of the down clues incorrect (you can guess which). And yes, it is a priest adjusted, one of the pairings.

hi busby, saw your posting on ft14352 and joint effort. i currently do guardian daily, prize and genius.
i also do ft's (but not polymath). haven't got enough time to do joint effort. i am virtually lost on this genius. will need to gather a lot of hints to get anywhere with it.

Can anyone give any HINTS on any of the following? I think they're all "partners" as I have 13 pairs already.
Across: 16,23,24,27
Down: 21,25.
Thanks for any help!

I also think they're all pairings, greedy kite.

However, I've just realised that lynbejack above said that 14A and 17A were literary. I've only just noticed, but I worked out literary solutions for 17A and 23A. Is 14A literary as well?

Literary! History! Not got solution for 23a yet, and you say that is literary too. Needing 2d, 10a, 18d and 23a now. Not even sure whether they are pairs or normal as got brain freeze!

23a is definitely a literary pair; 2d I think is one of a pair.
Now stuck only on 16, 24, 25 & 27 .
