What a beauty, Rosalind! Congratulations! Warms the cockles of my heart, living in exile in enemy country! I can only remember my village school visiting the local cinema to see "The Ascent of Everest" a year later.Must get back to the boat parade now!

Have now nearly completed 60 cupcakes with a model crown on each!
My memories of the coronation are of a lot of people sitting in a smallish room looking at a tiny TV screen. We children sat cross-legged in a row in front, admonished to Be Quiet, Sit Still and BeHave. I wasn't very interested in the proceedings, though I still love the sonorous words "I, Richard of Scarborough do become your leige man of life and limb and earthly worship" etc, and the fabulous music. Music wsn't allowed in my house; "Zadoc the Priest" electrified me. Still does.

Your cake is fabulous Rosalind. I have tried some novelty cakes but could never emulate yours. The only thing we have in common is the Fox's Glacier Mints, I have melted them, let them cool and shattered the result to make ice shards for a Christmas cake. I salute an expert.
