Only 22dn left now and given what prospero said, another cup of coffee may be required!

teenieleek, I worked backwards for 22d. I could find only one possibility for a "partner" given the letters that I had, and I worked from that. Somebody has already said on this thread that it's "Nice", so you want the french personal pronoun.

I had 2 possibilities, other one had y as second letter and that might have worked with french definite article plus a bit but yours is obviously correct, thanks.

No one has mentioned 4d - I presume you have all got it. Any subtle hints for the clue?

The gigantic bird and answer are both mythical - "range" is what you would expect in a cryptic

Presumably we have 'roc' plus 'l' in a mountain range - it must be the approaching night that clogs my mind. Approaching the clue from the answer twin seems just as nebulous. Another cue?

Daw it's exactly as you suppose! All you need is the 5 letter range.

Tks Ixion. Not being a GBS fan, I had a little difficulty with this one. The feline answer was evident but the clue perhaps less so.

Hi Dizoz. 6d two words- you have the right letters. For 24a, yes you do have to know them! Pairing is something I've never had the courage to try.
