Many thanks! As usual - I worked it out as soon as I`d asked for help! Re 8d. My husband was in the RAF but I don`t know the song (I didn`t know him in the 40s) He was quite a bit older than me so he probably knew it ! M.

Good Evening, All and a Happy RT Birthday to me.

Yes, indeed, it was RT3 in 2011 that I made my arrival onto the RT scene, shouting an answer from the rooftops. Wee Jock took me aside and sort of gently pointed out that this was not the way to behave on this site. I have tried to act appropriately ever since. Where is WJ, by the way. We haven't heard from him for quite a while. Also AJT. Are you ok, Audrey?

Anyway, RT3 for this year wasn't too bad, but it did take me a while to sort out the one about the oxygen container.

Hope all are well, especially the invalids of our number.

Best Wishes.

I am aghast... seriously aghast!

I started off on the R.T. thread around Oct 2010.

And I have always thought that you have been around...for ever!!!!! (Sorry turning into THEAMBLER there!!!!!)

You seem so much of an institution...and that is a compliment.

Take care

Happy New Year all! Happy anniversary Mr Meerschaum! (Is that how you spell it?) Some pretty obscure ones this week, I thought. Can I have clues please for 10A and 2d?
It's good to know what day to look for the RT. The 17% price increase is an outrage, I think my decades of RT reading may come to an end.

Happy RT Birthday Mr P and welcome Bees.
I thought the price increase was just a one-off to cover the cost of printing the David Hockney postcards (of which I am not a fan btw)
10A TV detective hasn't been around for a while, although there are repeats on some channels. (The popstar is around 70 yrs old!)
2D is a kind of rock
Hope this is some help.

Jazzgirl - thanks for the answer to 4D. Now for my list of other puzzlers

5 Down = Minor poet with whiskers (9)
13 Down - Handily placed to contain oxygen
17 down - Dodgy remedy for guitar ban
16 Across - Not opening with child on throne

Otherwise finished.

Happy anniversary Mr Pipesmoker. Like some of the others I too feel as though you have been around for ever. I am now trying to remember when I joined. Can it really be 3 or even 4 years ago? Where are you Caravaggio, hope you are well. Continuing good health to one and all.

Good morning Mondrian
I am not sure if you want answers or hints, so will give hints for now:
5 Down Another word for "whiskers" on a man.
13 Down - away from home.
17 down - Dodgy remedy or quack medicine
16 Across - on the throne
Hope this helps.
It is 5c degrees down here in the south east which is unusual for us. Brrrr.
