Well done ixion for the fiendish puzzle. Well done peterm for the final solution. I've seen A Clockwork Orange fairly recently but failed to spot the connection. Off to give my brain a rest.

The solutions to the seven numbered clues were all "Nadsat" words, the teen argot used in A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess (http://soomka.com/nadsat.html) which are also English words in Chambers. The "extra" word in each clue was the English translation of the Nadsat solution.

Thanks, ixion for a brilliant competition. I was always a couple of steps behind but enjoyed the solutions as they appeared and managed to keep up!
