They are defined peterm...like the first two w'end warm ups(canards reply was a deviation)it's not coincidental that they are of 7 letters.
Also relevant that clues 1-7 are all of an odd length.

7. this may not be one for the purists, hence the "?", but I think(hope)it's fair when considered with the "crossing letters" from the link clues and knowing it begins with "c"

Have got 1-4, and possibly 5. Haven't got A or B, so your tip re 'crossing letters' isn't taking me anywhere -yet!Can I ask if B begins with 'o'?
