How about "crazy gig" as clue?(buggy US =crazy,gig syn. for vehicle)---will look for s'thing even shorter,though!

RADAR is brilliant - I can see it as meaning "spies" but can't see the reference to "foes"...?

Forget previous post! "spies foes" obviously is RADAR.

Well done GK and for Bunter too. I'd previously looked it up at Chambers online and it wasn't there but as you say, it's in the Dictionary!

That sure is shorter,Wendy!BTW à propos Bunter, I notice he's described as a fat,greedy,clumsy schoolboy---quite a good description of me,really!Do you remember that drawing of him?Maybe I'm not quite that ugly,but..................

Exactly! Shall put him on my wall! Went for a long walk this morning in the beautiful hills of Gers (where it's been around 30 degrees C for about 6 weeks now)to "fight the flab" a little,but the food & wine are just too good here (and not even expensive)...Thank you for your company again today!gk
