For no. 2 I think it may be a word like SEES which means "spies" and is the same coming and going i.e. backwards and forwards)

However, it doesn't mean "foes"

Apart from the anag of anger, I still can't "see" RANGE.

18 is not arab,I made a mistake. the answer is berber. it makes no difference to the spare letters though.
