Hav just realised that I spent a while on 27 Down and didn't need to - if only I'd spotted the fifth relevant word sooner!

I've finished, including the changed word, but I can't quite see the wordplay in 16dn. Can anyone explain?

I have brass in 1d - an alloy not a metal, or have I gone wrong??
