Down to last 4, but unfortunately #43 is one of them! Other extant, if anyone has any clues (rather than answers at this stage), are: 36 Noel sent you away with this bird who had a straw hat on after the siren! (7,7); 42 It's a useful featre of sorts, following the rules (4,4); and 61 People sharing a meal had a long time to get the domestic shopping (8), Any theories out there?

Early days with this brilliant bi-annual puzzle. It only came out at the beginning of the month and runs until the end of May. Happy to help nearer the closing date, but for now just cuddle up with a copy of Chambers and a cup of tea! Good luck!

Thanks Mike! Can't get hold of a the 10th edition of Chambers Dictionary as recommended by the compiler. Never mind we are off tomorrow on a Transatlantic Caribbean cruise so maybe the ship will have a copy and will help me out as I will need something to do whilst we sail back across the Atlantic!

This is probably the hardest Rainbow Puzzle yet. Still have 17 to solve, and am struggling.
I bought my Chambers for £2 !!!! in Heffers
basement (second hand books) How lucky was that? Keep trying.

Thanks for clue to 61 - I can get a messy answer which fits the first part of the clue, but can't see what it has to do with domestic shopping!
For 12, think about times
16 ends with a weight and r for rex
27 is an anagram

@LakeGirl .. only 17 to go and you call that struggling!! I have 34 still to do but I am working through them slowly. So satisfying when the penny drops :-)
