I'm stuck on one last clue, 24 ac "Front page report on man of cloth (7)". I've got _R_E_T_

PRIESTS fits but I don't see the wordplay as the reference is to man of cloth not men of the cloth...

Help!

I thought 19d ended GEL rather than GLE hence the problem... not that I can find LINGLE anyway...
