We have mattrom @3, jono @4, tyke @10, and spike @34 tied for third, mattrom @5 in second, and the redoubtable (though shadowy) peterm in first with his:

Oddly, so much blue is mixed to soften the colour (7)

Quite an honor with so many great entries (whoa, simplesimon and paul!).

Here’s your prize. It’s a thrilling technique, especially if you’ve primed the linen thinly enough to have substantial tooth. With an almost dry bristle brush you can create magical highlights and other subtle effects.

And one of our local treasures. I can’t believe it was left in place in the great Gardner heist; it’s the first thing I would have grabbed. The video and sound are awful, but it’s still interesting.

And now I’m going to do some scumbling myself, and glazing too!

Congratulations, peterm, and thanks, all you stalwarts!

Congrats Peter and many thanks Aristo for a fun challenge. I admit I wasn’t familiar with the technique before now but I look forward to the clips with interest. Do you have your own work on display Aristo?

Thanks also to Peter for the vote and Chris for the like.
Cheers all,
Ttfn

Congratulations Peterm and thanks Aristophanes.
Always nice to come across a new word. I honestly thought you'd made it up at first.
