I think I have the sane answer as others for 2d, but surely the "make-up" is in the wrong place in the clue?

So 10a isn't ELLE, then?

I have a very tenuous answer to 25a. Very loose if it's right.

I very rarely moan about the Everyman, but found this one too much of a write-in, and disliked 2d and 10a.
Overuse of anagrams . End of year moan.
Happy New Year all

I probably have the same answer as you for 25a.If so, the word is archaic when addressing a king for example

I got 10a straightaway but then I do have a daughter of the same name!

I think the definition of 2d is loose but the wordplay is clear. I took make-up to mean the material that a rock consists of.

25a will make immediate sense for those familiar with horse racing terms.

My LOI was 19a which required all the crossers before my PDM.

I cannot parse 14d either but hey-ho.

HNY everyone!

FOI 1a, COD 20a. With a number of clues seen before, dissatisfaction with the solutions to others and a surfeit of anagrams (for my taste) I was left with a strange hung-over feeling after finishing! Disappointing after the last couple of more satisfying Everymans. Looking forward to 2024. HNY one and all,

14d is a double definition (adjective and noun). “Wanting” is just a link word.

I agree with Jazzgirl, not one of the best. Easy until it wasn’t. I had the same quibbles as others re 2d and 10a, also struggled with 19a
Despite that, thanks to Everyman for much entertainment over the years and Happy New Year to all

Re 19a it is the usual two letters for public relations, then the usual one letter for energy, then a 4 letter word meaning give up (yield). Lead, as in go first, is the definition.
Hope that helps.

I had a different answer in fact. It really sort of works!
