Yep agreed, as Brendan mentioned, I've never used the answer without "ED"

Thanks justsolve, got it now, 25a, delayed reply because of gardening. That's not another clue by the way.

Welcome Len69

I believe there is an app where your answers can be entered and given a green tick if correct.
I don't have the app so maybe someone here can guide you..

Very enjoyable puzzle today

The app mentioned by Jazzgirl is the Guardian Puzzles App which is great. If you complete the crossword correctly you get a green tick although it sometimes takes a while to appear. I got it immediately today.

Am I unusual in finding it just as frustrating to have filled in the grid, but failed to grasp some of the parsing, as it is to have a blank clue on the grid?

Sadly, subscribing to the newspaper does not entitle you to use the app. I find that a bit churlish of them, but maybe they're just reluctant or unable to link to the main subscription database.

Found this one about average difficulty for everyman, but I agree that 7 is poor because of the ambiguity. Jono also rightly mentioned that 9 is ambiguous as well, if you consider the US spelling. I assumed the UK spelling for my answer. Speaking of the language differences, am I missing some Britishism on 11? I don't really get it.
