Hi Havermonkey,

22a - definition is a (famous) "emperor" - 3 letter "chariot" goes around 3 letter "drink" (slang term so not actually a drink) reversed/back

.... actually, the term is "the drink" rather than just "drink".

I'm shaking my head at myself. .. couldn't see past another couple of three letter drinks and was convinced I was looking for a chariot. Face palm. Thanks Brendan!

All done and enjoyable. 22d held me up for far too long because I was thinking Lucky Jim and couldn't do much with it.
Loved the theme. COD 8a, even though literature is my bag.

Cheers to all

Phil

Havermonkey, I did exactly the same until a rethink led to the PDM.

HI everyone

I started slowly as usual late afternoon. I'm simply not on Brendan's wavelength, but then I got some and then some more. So far, I've done about three quarters.

Thanks for the hints for 19d and 22ac. I'll have to work on those.

I expected a chemical in 8ac and thought of Chris. I'm not sure of my answer to 16d and am concerned as I can't see anything for 15ac where I have ?N ?I?B? Are my crossers right?

I only have two jazz musicians, so have I got many more to get?

Back to the drawing board. Thanks Rocky for no football.

Hi Roof,

15a - 1 letter "one" + 2 letter "negative reaction" go around/'about' 4 letter "body part" - definition is "experiencing uncertainty".

Your letters are correct.

16d - 3 letter "save" 4 letter "your" + single letter "son" - definition is "noblewoman"

Thanks Brendan

My answer to 16d was OK and now I've got 15ac.

I've also got a glass of wine so I'll see if it releases the creative juices.
