19 parses as 3, 4, 2 where the 4 is an African country.

Well. I got that long anagram and quickly followed it with 4d. Very clever.

Just four in the SE corner to crack now.

19a - "in honour of African country" is split 3,4 with the final 2 letters being the unfortunately timed "stuffing knocked out of Turkey" - definition is "ceremony" but I have to admit I did not know this word could mean this.

Slow start followed by good progress after leaving it for a few hours. As I started typing the NE corner was pretty empty but as often happens it dropped into place by itself.

Just two remaining.
10 is evading me despite earlier hints. Which word is the definition?

16,17 Please can I have a clue. I can’t parse 18d so not sure my crossers are all correct.

10a - 4 letter "NY baseball team" reversed/'back' gives a word meaning "stop" - this is sneaky because you have to split the last word 4,4 to get the definition:-)

16/17a - the "rocks" are the type you might wear and "lifting" refers to an illegal activity.- your V is wrong.

Parsed 18 now so know my V was wrong. Still none the wiser for 16,17 tho.

Feebee, the first 4 letters of 18d are "gangster" - this will give you the correct 2nd letter for 17a.

Brendan and Geeker. I had got the last two letters and could easily guess the four letter country, so that was 19ac done, though I thought the definition was weak. That led me to 20d which was easy once I understood what Paul meant by current, which just leaves me with 29ac. Someone suggested that the definition was "producing match in laboratory", but I'm at sea again. Are my crossers right? I have ?L?N?O? By the way, I had originally dismissed the answer to 25 ac as it doesn't mean "cock".

I think my FOI was 16,15 closely followed by 2d. Clearly my LOI will be 29ac. My COIs were my first two 16,15 and 2d, but I also liked 14ac when I finally got it and 5ac. Why oh why did it take me so long to get 24ac. A mystery.

29a - 5 letter "stick" (as in 'adhere to') goes around/'masks' ON - definition is "producing match in laboratory" - your O is wrong.

21d - is 3 letter "article" + 4 letter "check".
