flexible = supple.
ment = sounds like meant = significent.

If this isn't the answer it's not a fair clue.

Thanks for the explanation. It looks good, so I think I will go to bed and pick it up again tomorrow, when perhaps others might want to make a contribution.
The problem I have is 2d, Observe pair in European river. I have SEINE (see in). If supplement is correct,then the answer is ?P???
