Aaaaaah! 27 = A not B!!!!!!

Kirky, I didn't want to cast aspersions on your numeracy skills!

I have a full grid and a brick wall. The derived letters lead clearly to a 4-letter word, which the title implies is the correct one. But I cannot find a single example of the common 4-letter word anywhere in the grid. Odd, since these find-a-word endgames usually lead to most of them being fairly obvious, with only one or two arcane examples being harder to find.

Cockie - I think I stared at the grid for as long as it took me to complete the entries then came the PDM. The four letter word is highlighted. Good luck!

I am also stuck trying to find the 7 examples of the 4-letter word.
Nothing is highlighted in my grid so your comment puzzles me.

Bananabean - My comment referred to the word itself which is de facto highlighted when you highlight the 7 examples.

After what is fast becoming a tedious grid stare I have 4 branching out from outside the central column totalling 18 letters. Unfortunately no symmetry appears to be involved!

Correction. There IS symmetry!
