Thank you Meursault. Never come across middies, though I see now that it’s in Chambers.

Planks, the answer is in the clue. Note the words 'essential to' - often means the word is to be found in the following letters.

As 28's not been mentioned before I suppose it must be an easy one. But I just don't see it. Annoying , as I've got all the others. Can anyone please help?

Three letter word for assembled, and three letter word for an old Indian coin. The extra letter (A) goes in the first word to give the answer, a hearty dish

2 days on and still no joy with 14 for me. I’m pretty sure meursaults’s method of trying all the combos plus the extra letter doesn’t work for this one. Tried that in chambers and multiple anagram solvers without joy. If anyone knows an anagram solver that has the word I’d be grateful.

Failing that is it in the 13th edition of chambers, which is the hard copy I have? I’ve been through all possible plausible combos that I can think of and I can’t find it. One of the many frustrating aspects of this puzzle is that one letter missing leads to over 1,200 possible answers to check. And I think I’ve looked up pretty close to that number over the last 2 days, with no joy. If someone can confirm it is there and findable I will restart my trawl. Thanks.

Hi Smellyharry. I used posts numbers 6,8,9,16,20,22,33,35 and 37 to help me with radial 14. I have the Revised 13th Edition of Chambers and the word is in there but you'll need to use the qv to find the definition.
It's entered inwardly.
Hope that helps.

Also smellyharry - if you Google 'anagram solver' the first two sites listed contain the word you need.
