Have finished suspiciously quickly but don't think my 8 down or 24 across answers become real words? Am I missing something?

Janemac, 24 is a real word but 8 needs no revision. Are you sure you've only got 40 blank cells?

Thanks Caphrist. I've erased 21 across ( duplicate of an entry Bradford lists as a 1 across) . I suppose this is my error?

Thanks for help. Finished grid, found 6 one acrosses but can only count 31 cells. What am I missing?

No, it’s half of 19dn and the fictional character. By the way, the shape left by the cells containing letters is thematic.
