Can't get 19d and 28 a.
19 Banger. I have ?in?
28 Nest in back garden. I have D?A?. Looks like drag ( reverse first letters of garden) but can't parse it.

Not happy with:

15D Four verses (8) - QUATRAIN as it is a verse of four lines and not a poem of four verses.

I too am not happy with quatrain but assumed it was "just Myops".

Regarding earlier posts for 2 down, I am going for mote, as the carper in the clue could be the hypocrite in the Biblical quotation.

Please could somebody parse:

It has to be NOBLE but what does the "Toff, 23, " bit mean? I assume it's T OFF rather than Toff and 23 is LATIN so that leaves LAIN, but I still can't see the connection.
