In 1d, there is reference to Skye. Know Skye as TV channel. but not sure how to parse it.

Don't worry. It took me along time to figure it out too.

You lost one of this when switched to Spring Time.
In all answers it was lost and hence it is not C that goes. One C is extra so remove it to get macho and then remove the letter that you lost when clock moved forward.

skye is scottish island ... so the clue is saying a scottish word...

47a Who refers to DR who. Yoga on vacation would be y a....so the monster is (h)ydra (no extra letter here)

4d rapid is the defn. I "think" the word play is as + T(a)y (river) so A is extra.(h)asty is the def.

9d A(american) + car(mustang) for the wordplay. adding the H would give a relish. No extra letter here

Some of my wordplays might not be spot-on but it gives you the general idea!
