Xerxes, I don't much like this clue! Staves seems to fit 'more than one bar' AND 'Poles'. With the letters I had, it's the best I could come up with.

I have all answers except 14a.
I can copy 37 and it will fit.
But composer in 37 has to be changed somehow.
I don't see swapping old money.

Any hint?

I see that changing second letter gives a king who was knowan as the peaceful.

I think this is a triple definition - more than one bar, keeps back (as in staves off) and poles. Horrid clue though.
