I've finished the puzzle but am baffled by the 'spirals' and how others have represented them.

1. A line through each set of 11 cells?
2. A line through each set of 11 cells missing out ('interrupted by') the starred cells?
3. A line weaving in front of and behind the starred cells?

If it's 3, how on earth do you decide whether the line goes in front of or behind each set of starred cells? I can't visualise the right-hand thread/left-hand thread concept and relate it to this situation.

Help please!

orientfan - I have your (2) .. 'interrupted by'... I visualised the centre column of the three as a growing cane - so passing behind, then in front, then behind etc. with the line in the outside columns reaching mid square before changing direction to give a continuous 'interrupted' line.
