Yes 17 and 20 are anagrams ('sporting').

Heisenberg, until it was mentioned here, I hadn't bothered parsing 22 D so I discovered something for myself too!

Drum = house. I've been asked about this over many years, and have asked others. The closest we've got is that it's not rhyming slang, but simply back-formation from 'drummer' as in door-to-door salesman, or burglar. 'Drum and bass' is another possibility, but if that means bass guitar, I think it limits the beginning of the usage too late.

Thought I was finally going to complete one without help from you all but alas 2 clues alluded me. 19d I got from previous threads so thanks for that but a clue for 18a would be much appreciated

I'm not a regular at Listener but as most of the clues looked straightforward, I thought i'd have a go. However I'm not really sure of how I get the 4 thematic words...
e.g. in top right quadrant so far for the unclued one, I have N/G O ? ? I/R N .... is it a proper word? Will it tell me what i have to remove from the answers in that corner?
(Stuck on 15a Continue tanning in resort - - it's not malignant 9 letters - is it an anagram of something?)

Aplogies if I am completely the wrong tack but I am a newbie!

Any help welcome.

(I am better with the numericals but last week's was a long slog to the finish line!)

Hi bunty A thematic letter is to be removed from the answers in each quadrant. For the theme-words just think along the lines of diseases due to a deficiency ...That should help you to get the Down answer in the top right-hand corner. Good luck and happy solving !!
