Utterly stuck with the last three. Can someone help me with "Test to recognise legendary label" I know it has six letters and I have four of the six numbers in the answer but......

All hints gratefully received

I'm also completely stuck.

Please can anyone give me a hint on
'Congolese town abbreviated foolish note' - I have 444-11, but backsolving is virtually impossible in this one!
'American bird's black dress' - thought this was GARB but I have it ending in 42
'A quick look upwards' - I have 11--1
'Get to support up front' - I have 23--

Any help would be very welcome - thanks!

Congolese town clue answer is a six letter Congolese town made up of a 5 letter word for someone who is foolish with the last letter removed followed by "fa" for the note.
I do not have the American bird either.
A quick look upwards - definition is upwards and is A followed by a word for quick look - answer has five letters.

5th down I have IDIO(FA) which makes sense cryptically, but the answer is a bit obscure.
1st down I have A(SCENT)

The 3/4 I'm stuck on are:
5th across, An insect has broken in dazzling for a moment, INSTANCE is a simple ana. of "an insect" but can't see how "dazzling" fits in?
6th across, Test to recognise legendary label
3rd down, Get to support up front
8th down, American bird's black dress

The definition is dazzling for a moment and is a three letter insect around an anagram of "has"

Ascent is wrong - the answer has five letters

Thanks Phil535.

My thinking on ASCENT was SCENT = Discern = quick sighted?

The definition is upwards?

The answer is an alternative spelling of a word meaning vertical. (Think about mountains)

Thanks Phil535 and Crackabilly.

I've just worked out the legendary label - test is for a car with 3 letter word for recognise.

Any ideas on my last two?
American bird's black dress and
Get to support up front?
