I can only echo the comments of everyone who has mentioned the quality on display here this week and feel humbled to accept the baton.
I actually spent more time on my other entry hoping the Hancock/tea/tax mixture would appeal to New Englanders...
In any event many thanks to Aristo for persevering with this and providing such an inspiring phrase !

Out of interest, BBM2, have you had crosswords published? The repeated quality of your clues would justify it (I hope I haven't made you blush!)

@chrise ...how kind of you to ask - but no.

I still struggle with a few aspects of clue-writing and as for grid construction I'm a total beginner.
There is software out there to help build grids but the result often feels a bit "contrived"

I'll just stick to the graph paper, pencil and rubber until I'm happy enough to put out an entire puzzle.
