yes springfield it is an anagram of those letters, and yes an item in the dairy.
try this site for your aanagram, and then your big chambers (it worked for me!)

Interesting re 3 - the main spelling seems to end in 'in', but there is an alternative spelling ending in 'an' which actually fits the clue construction better - both mean the same thing

I agree Alan. The a is a much better fit with the clue

Yes it is Scottish - and having seen the posts from Alan and Mazie, I am going to change my answer to the 'an' not 'in' !

Separate question - has anyone got any useful theories on 86. Thought of heroes were as goods these for providing a comfortable retirement? I keep thinking of feather beds, but can't make any sort of connection with heroes!

Alan I am back after a couple of days away from it I also thought feather beds but can see absolutely no reason why it should be. Anagrams of feather have nothing to do with anything either.

This is one of my last nine to solve - have even started wondering if Heroes was a referral to Quality Street !!!

I wanted it to be feather beds too, but couldn't make it fit. Then I thought about pension pots, but still it doesn't seem to make sense.
