No, Jazzgirl, I did not get that far...
But, I went back and saw it! UGH!
They think it was schoolboys in the 19th century who did it!
Scamps!

Hey, Rusty!
The British Library is indeed an untold wealth of treasures!
Yes, I have been looking at it on YouTube.
I shall definitely put it on my " to-do" list.
Have you had chance to see the Sunken Cities reference?
My friend Sue (the one from Tewin) wants us to go there on our next meeting -up.
I am keen, too, so I think we shall try to fit that in very soon.
Thank you for the 'Sports Repair' details.
Their speciality seems to be re-soling - always good to know as I have chucked out otherwise good boots for want of someone who could sole them adequately.
And I would think that fixing the front of my chewed up boot would be well within their capabilities , if it proves necessary?
My cousin in Blackburn does not live all that far from Burnley, so it would be easy for her to take my boots to be repaired anytime - she could take them back with her after visiting us.
(A more likely scenario than our going as far north ourselves at present)
Altho I guess one could post them...but that adds to the cost.
It looks as though this programme about Linda, Emmylou and Dolly will mostly be retrospective - probably playing songs from their earlier days and talking about their progression to become stars.
Maybe there will be an "update" towards the end when they "chat" even if they do not sing?

Hello, Elle,
No sunken cities, yet.
If necessary, the Burnley repair shop may be able to put you in touch with an equivalent repair service in the South?
They will have had repairs on all sorts of mishaps with boots.
But, I think your local cobbler will do a good job.
Barbour used to do a similar repair service on their jackets.
I do not think Linda Ronstadt will sing. She can't anymore.
She says changes in her voice were the first signs of Parkinson's for her.
She also said, if I have this right, that the medical folk are developing an algorithm (I do not know what that is) to detect voice changes in folk suspected of having Parkinson's. Apparently it is very accurate.
It will be nice to see and hear them again anyway.
I saw Emmylou on a similar programme a few years ago, with Mary Black and Dolores Keane.

Hi, Rusty!
My father was diagnosed with slight Parkinson's disease several years before he died.
Fortunately the disease progressed very little and he was seldom bothered with more than a slight tremor in his leg.
He was lucky.
But it can be a terrible disease.
An algorithm is a set of rules to be followed in calculations .
But I don't know how it relates to assessing voice changes?
I think early voice changes in articulation - particularly, I think, of the vowels - will help detect and diagnose Parkinson's disease in its initial stages.
But my dad had been dead several years before this came to light.
No cousin tonight!
She was away for a few days and had said that she would phone ( it's her turn) if back in time.
She hasn't........so I guess she isn't!

Hello, Elle!
Linda mentions the algorithms in an interview with Vanity Fair magazine.
She thinks they can pinpoint when the Parkinson's started by listening to her recordings. And she noticed the changes herself, too.
There is a lot of info about Parkinson's/voice algorithms on the Internet.
It is all way over my head, but just Google, there is plenty info out there.
I am looking forward to the programme.
Three great ladies of country rock!
You will miss your chat with your cousin!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, my cousin and I are very close.
We were both 'only' children, with no brothers or sisters, and I expect this is partially why.
A lot has been happening in Chesapeake.......
Edmund Steed has died.
I am now up to meeting Rosalind Janney.
She resembles Elly in her strength of character, I think?
I have only just met her, though; she has just married Fitzhugh Steed - so I may be speaking a little too early?
Tomorrow afternoon we are going to visit some old friends.
We have always remained in touch, but haven't actually met up in person for quite a while, so it will be good to see them.

Hello, Elle,
i had an inkling there was something like that with you and your cousin!
That's great you are close!
Rosalind Janney is a very strong character, as a certain pirate captain will find out.
But I'll say no more!
That's good you are meeting up with folk tomorrow.
I have been browsing through YouTube.
There was a good one of a bride called,
"the bride thought her first dance was ruined"
Have a wee look at it, a "feel good" clip!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I feel I am going to like Rosalind.........the chapter is called "Rosalind's Revenge"?
It is a longish chapter and I am but near the beginning!
Re your YouTube recording........I jumped when the bride shrieked!
I wasn't expecting that!
What a lovely surprise for her.
But however do you find these recordings?

Hello, Elle,
Yes, I think you will take to Fair Rosalind!
Probably my favourite character in the book.
I just explore through YouTube.
One leads to another.
Some scream by the bride!
In "Wedding Couple Jive", another bride takes to the floor.
And, boy, can Natalie dance!
