Hello, Elle,
You will be pleased to get you cooker hood in.
Does it need a "man" to install it?
i have several things this week, too.
Dentist tomorrow.
No appointment (she is very busy) so it's "sit and wait".
I shall take my crossword!
Then car MOT on Tuesday. Then may enquire about 'flu jab.
I Googled "Iras", too, but could not find anything.

Hello, Elle,
"Operation Valkyrie" was the term used for the July Plot to kill Adolf Hitler.

Hi, Rusty!
Oh yes, I had forgotten about that1
I shall have to ring Chris - our wonderful gas fitter who turned his hand to carpentry in adapting fitment of the new cooker when its measurements didn't turn out as stated!
Now what have you done this time that you need to go to the dentist (urgently?) without a planned appointment ?
You haven't been eating more Madeira cake?

Hello, Elle,
Yes, but it is not an urgent appointment.
The lady thought it was a good idea, though.
I did not know they did "sit and wait" at my dentist.
They do at my GP's.
It is an ache which crept up on me, sort of.
So, best attended to fairly soon.
Wait to make sure the hood is delivered before you call Chris.

Hi, Rusty!
I missed your intermediate post about "Operation Valkyrie"
Yes, so it was...........a strange coincidence as Unity's second name is such and she was a "mate" of Adolf's?
Anything more sinister behind it, do you think?
I am sorry about your tooth "twinge" - let us hope it is nothing serious, and can be attended to easily tomorrow.
No, I shall not phone Chris until the cooker is safely here.
"Many a slip 'twixt cup and lip..." or something like that!
That was a bit weird of whomever to list all the answers to the Everyman puzzle, wasn't it?
Bad sportsmanship!

Good morning, Elle!
Yes, it was a strange coincidence about Valkyrie!
An odd name to give a child, too.
Could there be a link?
Valkyrie would be more "known" in Germany than here, I think?
So possibly a coincidence.
This posting of all the answers, as in Everyman yesterday, has happened before.
Bad sportsmanship is right, (and one wrong.)

Good morning, Rusty!
A damp and chilly morning here!
How is it in your neck of the woods?
Have you been to the dentist yet?
What did she have to say about your toothache?
I received a phone call at 7am telling me that my delivery slot for my cooker hood would be between 7am and 11am!
So I took the dog out as usual, leaving my husband in charge!
He tells me the package arrived at 8.30 am.
So it is good that is out of the way, instead of dragging on waiting in for it for most of the day.
Just Chris to organise now to come and fit it!
Has that thread giving all the Everyman answers disappeared? Maybe Norah deleted it?
I was looking to see which clue had been answered wrongly ( I didn't bother to check the answers yesterday) but couldn't find the thread?
Tthough it might just be me, overlooking it)

Hello, Elle,
Going to dentist later.
Suits me better, and I'll drop car off for MOT when I am out.
Fine day here.
That is good your delivery has arrived.
Looks like Norah deleted the Everyman thread.
One answer was given as "Sri Lank".
I imagine it should have been Sri Lanka?
I noticed in today's Times, in the Deaths column, that Mike Tomkies has died.
He wrote "Moobli", do you remember?
I liked his books about the wilds.

Hi, Rusty!
I don't still have the crossword, but yes, I think Sri Lanka was one of the answers.
It is good that Norah deleted the thread - it was bad form to offer up all the answers like that.
Anyone inadvertently opening the thread would have the crossword straightway ruined for them.
What a shame about Mike Tomkies!
Of course I remember him - who could forget Moobli?
That book, and Mrs Mike, were my first introductions to the 1p books from Amazon!
I have bought many more since you originally told me about them!
I started "Chesapeake" last night.
A much easier beginning than in "Centennial"!
Good luck at the dentist!
I thought you were taking the car for its MOT tomorrow though?

Hello, Elle,
Yes, Norah did well,
Possibly someone pointed it out to her.
I did not read Moobli, but read several others he wrote.
I looked him up on Wikipedia. (Worth a read, Elle!)
He led a very varied life.
He knew Robert Mitchum and I think he was a stunt man in Hollywood. Hobnobbed with Dean Martin etc
Doris Day offered him a screen test!
Then he headed for the wilderness.
Chesapeake!
You will have met Pentaquod, then?
A good man!
My car is due MOT tomorrow, but I am going that way to my dentist and will drop it at the garage and save a journey tomorrow.
