Not that I'm advocating more holidays jolan (well deserved when you do take them) but love #4 delightful!

Hi jolan - I'm happy with my answers to nos 2,3 and 4 but my answer for 5 seems too easy and is probably wrong. Can't see #1 - yes, #4 is good 'un.

Thanks jolan.
You haven't lost your art - I remain largely baffled. Thanks very much anyway.

1 I wanted to be OINTMENT. I can get the OINT from "point" and MEN for "some people", but can't see why the P goes or the other T appears.

2 POTATOES AND POINT - strange sounding Irish dish of crushed potatoes with a herring buried in, apparently. Anagram "adopt Estonian pot".

3 LAVENDER - VEND (sell) in REAL (genuine) backwards.

4 ?

5 "sentence" has 8 letters, unfortunately!

Just two:

2. Potatoes and point
3. Lavender
5. guess: session?

I've been out in the sunshine, gardening most
of the afternoon hoping for more inspiration,
but alas, no.
Thanks as always jolan. Looking forward to
seeing the other answers.

@ rambler: I didn't know of the term egg-beater for helicopter. Thanks. Another one to add to my list.

Thank you everyone for having a go. Wonder where AB and Ari are today. I never noticed SESSION which would have been an ideal answer to a Gen K crossie.
Rambler did best today with 3/5.

Here are my workings.

1. some people = men; point = east; ease(men)t = EASEMENT = relief (rare) {Chambers def}

2. anag (to cook) of “adopt Estonian pot” = POTATOES AND POINT = a feigned Irish dish (part Chambers def). {feigned = fictitious}

3. sell = vend; genuine = real (return) = laer; “on outside” = la(vend)er = LAVENDER = plant.

4 (CRYPTIC double). EGG BEATERS. egg beater = an egg whisk; a helicopter (Chambers defs) {P.S. not all whisks are egg whisks. hence “some”} and chopper = a helicopter (Chambers def)

5. court = yard; time = age; YARDAGE = length
