Finished, but trickier than usual, I thought and some (especially in the NW) were difficult to parse, though I think I have them all sorted now.

Odd isn't it. When you find it trickier, I found it easier than usual. If you want any parsed you only have to ask. It makes a change, for me to be offering help instead of receiving it

When I saw you had started off the thread, chrise, I had a feeling it was to say you were finished and I was not wrong. Well done. Meantime I have managed to get two so it looks as though I will be needing help later in the week!

Yes, it is interesting that we find different crosswords difficult.

Completed most, but would like some suggestions for 9a. Not sure that what I have for 1 d is correct either.

9a was my LOI, and I'm not entirely convinced it's right. MIne reads backwards - slang for "China", then a (Hamlettian) problem, giving a coarse material.

If your answer for 1d is right, you should be pretty confident of it. It's a spice plant.

Thanks Chrise. All clear now. Was muddled over 1d. Never heard of plant so that did'nt help.

I found it easier than usual, and finished it in one sitting (unusual for me!) although I had difficulty with some of the parsing.
