15a. First word sounds like word for look. Second word is 3 letters meaning contend followed by w from with. Giving what you pay extra for as guest in a hotel.
1d. Is this plant we struggled with made from "u" for posh + language given by Jazzgirl under another word for marshland. Hope this helps.

I'd got the 'guest's request' but 1d defeated me..(Never 'eard of it.!) Still not happy with 'China' though...I can understand the Cockney reference for 'friend' but where does the rest come in.!? I have completed now...but still head scratching.!
