@ redcoral
I've never read anything by Ken Follett, altho I've heard the name... what type of books does he write? ( i'm always looking for 'new' authors whom I might enjoy)

Not sure I would recommend him as its too drawn out & I think others in the group have said all his books seem overlong!
Thank you to all helpers as I seem particularly dim this afternoon. I can still gaze out at the sunshine but no birds have come to the bird table only the 2 fat pigeons waddling around the base!

I am sorry but I have to reply to this comment on Ken Follett. I have read Pillars of the Earth and the follow up World Without End. Both superb books giving an insight into the 12th century. I recently completed his 'Century' trilogy which totals near on 1800 pages and covers 1912 - 90. Even better than Pillars/World. These tomes are for real bookworms not for the easily diverted. Don't take my word - read the Amazon & Goodreads reviews.

Thank you, James for your response. I'm always ready to try new authors - I will read the reviews and no doubt try out the books.
We quite often find ourselves discussing books and authors on this forum! - I've often thought we should have a book club!
