I would love some help on 39a and 35d if anyone is still there.

Have now solved these and have completed the grid except for last bit of clue

Hi qesue, I'm stuck on 1d (Unite about jumping ship to depart). For the grid entry I have DO_D, but suspect my 14ac may be wrong. Can you help please?

1D goes like this.
Unite=CLEAVE.
About = C.
So, if C 'jumps ship' you get LEAVE.
LEAVE=depart.

. . . and your 10A should start with E.

I've pretty much finished this - but am annoyingly unable to parse/solve the clue for 31d, which means that I can't get the final letter in the grid for certain (but must be a 'U' I think?).

Help!
