I'm really struggling this week, jolan (and I whizzed through the Guardian and the RT today!) I think I have guessed the first word in #2, and that's the sum total of my progress so far.

Don't always get a look in at your clues but I see Number 2, not sure if it's correct because one of the words I have in the answer is also in the clue text, does anyone concur?

My answer seems to be the same as yours, Les.

If possible I try to avoid any word in the clue appearing in the solution (unless I make a booboo).

Well YES Les (and Ari)! I've broken my own rule. One of the words DOES appear in the clue (but not really a "rule-breaker, I feel)

I spent so long on the RT crossword that I've still only solved # 4. :((

I hadn't noticed you'd posted earlier than normal, so I missed the chance to mull over your clues :( I have #4 straight off - but doubt if anything more will come to light before 5.

Doh! I was looking for a "Jolan", but I can't count!
