If you have only 3 to solve, do you not have some letters already?

The answers have to be jumbled so all that I know is 12Ac contains an I, S and T. 34Ac has an L and U and 8Dn has an S and D.

Hi there unclued ! 12 Ac is METIF (to be entered as "IFEMT", and 8 Down is FONDAS (the French word for funds goind round " A" (old symbol for 50) : FOND_A_S .

Am stuck on a few clues myself still, including 35 Across. Any hints regarding this ... AND the two-word encoded phrase (am utterly stymied !) will be more than welcome !

Hi Lavengro - 35a is an anagram and creates a very strange South African word

Hi again unclued Am still mystified by the theme in general i.e. canno t work out the NAME or indeed the TWO_WORD phrase, to enable me to do any highlighting (I hope in fact to send the puzzle in ! ). Any gentle hints ?!

Am also stuck on 2 Down, the Ancient book clue.....

Any help, however small, will be much appreciated ! !

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I've got all the extra letters, apart from the one in the first word of the title, but can't deduce the theme.

After such a monumental effort, it's terribly frustrating to be unable to tie up the loose ends.
