My din-din is just about ready. Will peek in later this evening, in case of any queries.

Good answers & explanations AB.

Jolan
Your #5 reminded me of a recent Guardian clue set
by Philistine - ' Rupert Murdoch is old' (6,3,5).
The clue was later chosen as 'Clue of the Week'.

Got 3 and 5 this week. Didn't spend much time on them. but no amount of time would have got me to #2!

I got in with only about 5 minutes to spare but have enjoyed looking through the clues/answers.
I did wonder, wrongly, if #3 had anything to do with the moon landing.
I prefer Jolan's clue to the one set by Philistine.

I agree rossim.

I should have made it clearer that I thought Jolan's
clue was better.

Hi Tony, Rossim and Mary6.

Thanks for your comments. Gosh, It's years since I read the Guardian and I haven't had a go at Philistine since I stopped downloading their free cryptics. I used enjoy them but found I was spending far too much time with my head down every day.

This is not the first time a "coincidence clue" has happened to me. I suppose it's bound to occur from time to time. Makes me feel a wee bit happy to find an occasional 'similar' clue in the quality crossword papers. Yippee!

Take great care everyone during the coming week. See you next Tuesday

Bless

John
