Hooray!!
Great clue, mrw. I am currently writing about a sailor who allowed no spirits on his ships (1840s to 1860s), but then he was in the Merchant Service. Bet he wasn't popular with everyone.
I looked at your clue 8 Pau before I saw to what it referred. I agree with Thea, special mention!
Hope you've all been enjoying this brilliant sunshine

Just in from the Golf Course. I'm stunned, I have to admit to swearing when I read the result, and I had to read it more than once!
What a pleasant surprise and early birthday present, I'm 65 next week. Thank you BBM2 and everyone else, fascinating prize.
The only down side is I don't get to play next week, but I can put up with that.
Now I will have to dig out that clip from you tube which andyc found for me on cutting and pasting.
see you all next week. mrw

Well done MRW! Time for you to have a win - great clue.
Is it Mr. W or are they all your initials?

Either way happy birthday for next week.

Thanks for the mention, Ros and THEA!
