Used to see them down at Brownsea Island/Poole Harbour. There are quite a few down there ;)

I've seen them in Langstone Harbour (east of Portsmouth), and also near Nairn in Scotland (or were those the Black-tailed variety? - can't remember)

Thanks, jazzgirl and chrise. I'm using Bradford's and it's not in so again a no-hoper. You'll have gathered I'm not very good at bird spotting. Again,as I wouldn't have got it would you please try another? I think this may be another DOH! moment
