After this morning, thought i might start a thread of lighthearted disasters that r happening to u/us on the run up to Christmas.

My oven thermostat has died and the repair guy has just said there is no way he can get a replacement bit before New Year.... fun, fun, fun.

That sounds about right. Are there any independent spares distributors in your area? They can often be very helpful.

We normally have a forerib of beef for Christmas dinner and have (for the last 5 years) BBQ'd it and the potatoes / YP's on our charcoal fired Weber. Great fun!

However - what make/model is your oven?

Hi SLH,
Yep we have a Weber as well, so have to get the coals going---'im' indoors can do that. The make of my oven begins with the letter N -- u guess. If it's cold and crisp on Christmas day -- no probs -- but wet and windy is not so great.

Have a try on this website (I'm taking a guess on the manufacturer)

http://www.espares.co.uk

btw I'm only allowed to cook when I've completed my Christmas duties

I'm sorry - I cheat. That famous buxom relative's product works every time on the BBQ. Again, apologies to the purists.

btw - we erect the gazebo if the weather is inclement.
