I don't think we can hold it against Aristo that he is unaware of our Byzantine clock "system"! Besides he's had a lot to deal with - pleased to hear that it wasn't as bad as it might have been, Aristo.

2) OCTAL -Eight... Subtractive anagram (sporting)CLOSE FITTING BRA less (not) FIRST
BEING

3) HARBOUR - Entertain ...HOUR (time) keeping
ARB (anag-orderly) BAR

4) EMBARGO - Impediment ..EG (say) O (nothing)about MB (doctor)with AR (short-arm)

5) INVENTION - Design ...' Necessity is the
mother of invention'
