Good Lord! A thousand apologies everyone. THRASH really had 6 letters. I check them and check them and check them before posting and yet, here is an error in counting. Of course it should have been (6) THRASH.

This seems to have been a bad day for me with simple counting (see another thread!!). Perhaps its the new (to me) Balvenie 12 year-old single malt.

I'll do my level best to make sure of the count in future posts. OOOOOH! the shame of it all.

That's OK, Jolan. I thought of thrash but the count was wrong, so thought it might be slash (definition for cut): S LASH.

hint: Nowt to do with fish (the swimming variety). That wuz a misleader but an important part of the clue.

your clue still works as 5. t(he)rash, so you are forgiven. Really enjoyed having a go, but still cannot improve on my usual three.
