Thanks Les, for all the work & for providing us with such a fun puzzle.

Thanks to all for the wicked clues. They're getting more challenging each month.

Bravo & brava!

I think these are getting tougher - after being stuck on both bottom corners for days I've finally worked out 33D (thought it was Harry Potter related due to wrong record at 50A) and 44A.
Still stumped by 43D/52A but not ready to throw in the towel just yet.
Favourites (so far) 6A and 33D.

Why thank you, ixion. It just so happens that I have your 10d starred too (wonderful!). Loved Les's 31a and 12d, peterm's 6a and 45d, Big Bad's 26d, and jamoza's 27d. Oh, and the lovely Rosalind's 2d is charming. Sooo many good ones though. I agree, ixie: it's been cranked up a notch or two.
And then there's the The Trickster (AB)...

You've done a tad more than me, bob's mum! I just love Les's 12 dn.
However, have an unexpectedly empty day as my grandson was coming, so may make more progress.

Hi Rosalind,

I think i have just got two more, not sure. Whats the etiquette, can we ask for hints/help/pointers? When i said i had got half that was not the whole truth as hubby put in four late last night when I'd gone to bed.

If you ask Les on the Forum email, he'll give you hints on a couple to get you started again.

Hi guys;
Finally managed to finish this last night (except 49d) - had to ask Les for a few hints as got completely stuck half way. Definitely the hardest yet. Some answwers I feel were impossible to get from the clues alone without the cross letters as just too wooly with the definition. My favorites in terms of satisfying penny-dropping crunchiness were;
Aristo 18a
Ixion 39a
Les 12d

AB's IQ is obviously somewhere in the stratosphere....

Cheers Paul,

Looks like some are still beavering away at the grid, I will put the solution on at weekend and try and get the wordplay file done for then too. I might ask for a volunteer soon to produce the wordplay file because that's the only part that gives me a headache.
