I think your 't'is wrong. Think of a word for gypsy in general. If you have Chambers the rest follows but think of a south coast port!

Hi again, Kendo.
For 17ac., Take "Scot" and replace the abbreviation for "old" (1) with an inscription on a gravestone (1.1.1) Result = "text".
For 25ac., "just" as in "it's a .e.. bagatelle" or "I .e..ly said" also a synonym for a pool.
