I've got the same as Andy except for No4

With some hesitation I offer
RAG-TRADER - Businessperson...RAG (daily) TRADER ( someone who 'doesn't want to retain'

It is probably wrong as Jolan wouldn't have missed the hyphen.

Wonderful, folks! I just love the rare occasion when a 'hidden' (of) is not easily seen (Ari spotted it). Thank you Jam, Ros, Ari, Andyc, Chrisg and Tony.

I hope No. 4 is acceptable (perhaps I should have included a '?'. Here are my workings:-

1. money = brass; fixes = tacks; BRASS TACKS = details of practical business (Chambers).
2. (of = ‘in’) CAIN = first issue
3. (cryptic) HALF A TICK! = wait!
4. (cryptic) NEWSAGENT
5. cat = PUSS (adopts = takes in)(anag = following metamorphosis) of “lion-miaul”, yielding PUSILLANIMOUS = cowardly = chicken

Take great care of uourselves

John

Just popping to say I hope Helen continues to do so well.

But I thought the clues were excellent.

Ah yes Andy. boxwallah (derog), but where is the 'daily' ref.

Ari
'daily' = daily newspaper (is it the same in the US of A?)

Hard luck this week. Helen is doing great, thank you. Final dressing off today.

PS went to see/hear Nick Ross Orch in Rhyl last week. Great!

Methinks I hear the dinner gong, so I'm off now. Will look in later.
