Thanks Helena and Trevor.
Must the answer be one word or can it be more than one word?
Anyway think I will give it a miss as it is beyond my limited intellect.
Thanks to you both for taking the time to explain what is not your problem.
Regards

nonsense TJ! you have shown that you are far from thick.

I'm not really familiar with this type of puzzle(I have seen them before). I'd guess they are one word answers.

Looking to me like a letter may be assigned to a wrong number?

when you start codewords they look impossible, but the more you do the easier they become, they are very like crosswords and you just need to understand letter pattens in words. as you are very capable of doing cryptic crosswords, you should have no problems with codewords.

Thanks for your efforts. It can be two words, but that doesn't get me far either. These problems usually fall out easily enough, but this one goes nowhere.

I think this is one of those times when we will have to wait for the answer, but for hardy types we have, in part:

22=L, 1=S

15/6/22/1/24/24/23/16 (this clue)
15/2/4/16/16
2/4/16/14/18/9
16/21/1/25/16

There is only one more 24 in the solution, at

24/16/16/14

Been looking at this and would FALSE EGO fit the bill?
Maybe I still have not grasped matters correctly if so then shoot me down.
